Today, Deadline announced longtime Marvel Studios writer Michael Waldron will take over screenwriting duties on Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This comes off the news earlier this year that Jeff Loveness has been let go after penning the script after the failed box office results of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Waldron has become Kevin Feige’s go-to screenwriter after he wrote Loki season 1 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, he will pen both Avenger films, including Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude the ongoing Multiversal Saga. Recently, director Daniel Deston Cretton left the film to focus on Shang-Chi 2, so the studio is also searching for a director. Feige really wants a veteran director like Sam Raimi to take over the Avengers film, allowing him to be more hands-off on the films.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is slated to hit theaters May 1, 2026
