Earlier this year at TUDUM, Netflix finally announced they will release Avatar: The Last Airbender sometime in 2024. We at Knight Edge Media had heard it will likely be sometime in early 2024 during Q1. Avatar News (before shutting down) revealed it will be sometime in February. Well, now, during Netflix’s Geeked Week event, it has been confirmed the live-action adaption of the hit Nickelodeon show will hit the streaming platform on February 22nd, 2024. Ironically, this is almost 19 years to the day of the debut of the original show on February 21st, 2005.

The announcement comes with the first trailer for the show alongside a slew of new photos (as well as a teaser poster revealed Wednesday). After years of waiting for marketing to begin on the show, more will come out in the next three months as we inch closer to a release. Hopefully, some behind-the-scenes footage will emerge from the actor’s time on The Volume in Vancouver. The series stars Gordon Cormier (The Stand, Lost in Space) as Aang, Kiawentiio (Anne with an E) as Katara, Ian Ousley (13 Reasons Why) as Sokka, Dallas Liu (Shang-Chi, PEN15) as Zuko and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian, Kim’s Convenience) as Uncle Iroh. The live-action series was created by Albert Kim (Nikita) and based on the original animated series by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will stream exclusively on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024
