Disney Hires Eugene Ashe To Pen ‘The Rocketeer’ Reboot

Today, The Wrap announced that Disney has hired screenwriter Eugene Ashe to pen the upcoming Rocketeer reboot for Disney+. Ashe is best known for writing 2020s Sylvie’s Love. The project was announced back in 2021 as a sequel to the original 1991 film. David Oyelowo is attached to produce and star in the film for the streaming service. Blake Griffin and Ryan Kalil’s Mortal Media will also serve as executive producers. At one point, J.D. Dillard was attached to direct a sequel but is no longer attached to this version. Ed Ricourt penned a previous draft of the script.
