Moana had already begun casting for the lead role before the SAG actor’s strike halted the process.

The new report states that the studio was looking for Oscar-nominee actress Florence Pugh (Oppenheimer, Little Women) for the role of Rapunzel in the Tangled movie. The role was originally voiced by Mandy Moore back in 2010. It’s unknown if she was ever contacted prior to the SAG actor strike. However, she already has Thunderbolts at Marvel Studios once the strike ends. Ashleigh Powell (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) wrote the most recent draft of the movie.
