Universal Pictures Taps Mason Thames and Nico Parker For ‘How To Train Your Dragon’

Today, Deadline announced that actors Mason Thames and Nico Parker have been cast in Universal Pictures upcoming How To Train Your Dragon live-action movie. Thames is best known for his breakout role in last year’s The Black Phone. While Parker has been praised for her breakout role in The Last of Us.

This casting comes off the rumor that Dylan Grazer and Auli’i Cravalho were in talks as Hiccup and Astrid. However, as many fans have noted, both Grazer and Cravalho are in their 20’s, as the characters (at least based on the first film) were only 14. Dean DeBlois returns to direct the film.
