Last night’s controversial season finale of The Last of Us has fans of the series reeling with anticipation for the sequel season. HBO already announced the show had been renewed a week after the first episode debuted. However, co-showrunner Craig Mazin has revealed that the first season completely covers the first game. The second game will need to be covered over multiple seasons to dig deeper into the lore.

He has also revealed to Variety that actress Bella Ramsey (turning 20 this year) will not be recast in the upcoming seasons, as Ellie is older when she begins her hunt for Abby. Pedro Pascal is also expected to return in a minor capacity. The forthcoming seasons will also have much more infected than the first season.

The Last of Us is streaming now on HBO Max.
