Today, Skyler Shuler of The DisInsider revealed on Twitter that Universal Pictures is considering adaption How To Train Your Dragon into a live-action feature film. Universal is the parent company of Dreamworks animation, which worked on the original animated films of the 2010s.
Not much else is known about the project but Daniel Ritchman did reveal on his Patreon that original director Dean Deblois will be returning to write and direct the film. It’ll be interesting if the studio looks for an unknown for the role of Hiccup but could still have Gerard Butler return as Stoick the Vast. Universal has yet to officially announce the project.
