Today, over at TheOneRing.net a report has gone out that the mystically and often wacky character of Tom Bombadil has been cast to appear in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. “It’s 100 percent Tom Bombadil. That’s what they’re [the source] saying. Tom Bombadil has been cast and will show up in Season Two.” Tom Bombadil is an ancient yet cheerful character in the original Lord of the Rings novels.

Frodo and his companions stop at his cottage after journeying into the Old Forrest. Tom, at one point, puts on The One Ring without turning invisible as the ring had zero effect on him. However, the character was completely absent from Peter Jackson’s original films. Many fans have long fancast What We Do In The Shadows star Matt Berry in the role. However, it would be unknown if he would have time due to his commitments to the FX vampire comedy. Production is currently underway on the sequel season in the United Kingdom for Amazon Prime.
