Today, our friend Daniel Ritchman revealed on his Patreon a casting call had gone out for the lead villain in the upcoming Marvel Studios anti-hero film Thunderbolts. The report states the role is basically “evil Superman” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the studio looking at either Alexander Skarsgård or Ryan Gosling for the role:

[MALE VILLAIN] Lead Male (30s – 50s)  A conflicted and powerful villain described as an EVIL SUPERMAN. Will need a strong actor for this role.
Interested in Ryan Gosling
Interested in Alexander Skarsgård

Many fans have suggested this could be the first introduction of Hyperion into the MCU. Hyperion is literally Marvel’s Superman, given he was sent from another planet to earth and soaks up solar radiation. Production on the film is expected to begin production in June 2023. Jake Schreier will direct the film.

Thunderbolts hits theaters on July 26, 2024
