After surviving the newest Ghostface killer in Scream 5 (unlike co-star David Arquette) original actress Neve Campbell was in talks to return for the 6th installment in the franchise. However, the actress revealed over the weekend at Monsterpaloza 2022 and confirmed by Deadline she will not be returning for Scream 6. Campbell said in a statement that Paramount was unwilling to pay her what she believes was her value to the franchise.

“I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years,”

This marks the second time since the beginning of the year Paramount refused to pay an actress an adequate salary to return to a franchise. Teen Wolf star Arden Cho spoke out about her salary on the revival movie The Cut last month. She also was not paid the same as her returning male co-stars in the film, so she too passed on Teen Wolf. Production on Scream 6 begins today with the remaining Scream 5 cast including Jenna Ortega & Courtney Cox.

Scream 6 hits theaters May 31st, 2023
