Earlier this week we had learned that several actresses had auditioned for the role of Barbara Gordon in DC Comics’ upcoming Batgirl feature film. The list included fan-favorites Haley Lu Richardson and Zoey Deutch. However, today In The Heights breakout star Leslie Grace announced she had been cast in the title role. This marks yet another actress of Latina descent who had been cast in a major DC Comics property after Sasha Calle was cast as Supergirl in The Flash movie. The film is still expected to recast a new Jim Gordon (probably of Latino/Hispanic descent) in the film. Directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will helm the project with a screenplay by Christina Hodson. Production will begin later this year…
Batgirl has no set release date but will debut on HBO Max
