In 2017 director Michael Bay left the Transformers franchise after a saga of films. Hasbro brought in Travis Knight to direct Bumblebee, a semi-reboot of the franchise. The film was a massive success and the Autobot designs paid homage to the classic 1980’s cartoons. This year Hasbro put into motion two separate scripts to reboot Transformers as a whole beyond Bumblebee. Joby Harold and James Vanderbilt wrote both scripts with Vanderbilt’s script focusing on the Beast Wars.

Now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Hasbro alongside Paramount Pictures has decided to go with Joby Harold’s screenplay. They now are bringing in Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. to direct the project. It’s unknown if this will be set in the Bumblebee universe set up by Travis Knight.

Transformers reboot will hit theaters June 24, 2022
