With production starting to commence once again on Matt Reeves Batman film some more casting has been brought to light. Warner Brothers announced in a press release that Dunkirk and Eternals star Barry Keoghan has joined the cast. Barry Keoghan will play Officer Stanley Merkel of the GCPD.

In the comics, Officer Stanley Merkel was Jim Gordan’s first partner before being killed off by Sofia Falcone in the pages of Batman: Dark Victory. Obviously, Koeghan is much younger than Jeffery Wright who plays Jim Gordon. However, it will be interesting to see if Barry Keoghan will appear in the Gotham Central TV Series for HBO Max.
