Earlier this month, production resumed on Mission Impossible 8. The film was expected to be the second part of Dead Reckoning but has since dropped that subtitle. It was also expected to be the final film in the Tom Cruise espionage action franchise but has since been teased to continue. The movie was also supposed to come out this year but was pushed to 2025 due to last year’s WGA and SAG-AFRTA strikes during filming. Breakout star Katy O’Brien has joined the cast in a secret role. She is best known for appearing in Andor but, most recently, in Love Lies Bleeding. She joins the returning cast of Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff. Christopher McQuarrie also has returned to write and direct the third film in the franchise.

Mission Impossible 8 hits theaters on May 23rd, 2025
