Today, Warner Brothers-Discovery confirmed that the previously rumored Harry Potter TV series has already been ordered straight-to-series by the streaming service MAX. This comes after the company announced that HBO Max will be rebranded to simply MAX starting May 23rd. The upcoming series, as previously reported, will dedicate a single season to each of J.K Rowling’s original books. The announcement also revealed it will take over a decade to complete the entire 7 season arc. Every character will be recast for the upcoming series.

Rowling recently stated that while she enjoys the movies of the early 2000s, they simply couldn’t tell every plot point she wrote in her original novels. The Direct recently revealed that WB did try to buy out Rowling so they could move forward with another film, but she wouldn’t sell her rights reasonably. Thus the idea of a 7-season TV Series was born with Rowling returning as an Executive Producer.

Harry Potter will stream exclusively on MAX
