Denzel Washington and Barry Keoghan Are Next To Join ‘The Gladiator’ Sequel

Today, Variety announced that Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington has entered talks to join the cast of The Gladiator sequel. This comes from news that Oscar-nominated actor Barry Keoghan has also entered talks to join the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  They join star Paul Mescal as Lucius the son of Lucilla. Keoghan is set to play Emperor Geta, while Washington may play another Macrinus (via DanielRPK). Director Ridley Scott is returning to helm the sequel, with a script by David Scarpa. Production begins later this year.
