Skydance & Mattel Developing a ‘Matchbox Cars’ Live-Action Movie with John Cena

Today, a report announced that Skydance, alongside Mattel Toys, is developing a live-action movie based on their Matchbox Cars toy line. Mattel has been hard at work developing movies based on many of its toy properties following the success of 2023’s Barbie. The upcoming live-action film is set to star John Cena after his time in Fast & Furious comes to an end. He is also set to appear again in a Peacemaker TV series for Max and announcing that 2025 will be his final year appearing in WWE matches to focus on his acting career. Sam Hargrave is set to helm the project after working on the Extraction series for Netflix with a screenplay by David Coggeshall.
