Today, a new report announced that director J.A. Bayona is being considered to helm the Jurassic World: Rebirth sequel. This follows news that the original director, Gareth Edwards, is exiting due to creative differences. Bayona originally directed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before leaving the franchise to produce season 1 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for Prime Video. Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey are expected to return. Production is expected to begin sometime next year. David Koepp is set to return to pen the script.
