Earlier this week, a new report announced that 20th Century Studios and Walt Disney had begun early development of a live-action TV series adaptation of The Kane Chronicles. The Disney+ series will be based on the Egyptian gods novels by author Rick Riordan and set in the universe of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The logline reads, “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world.” Roirdan will develop the series alongside showrunner Angela Robinson (How to Get Away with Murder, True Blood). Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell of The Gotham Group will produce it alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, and Angela Robinson. Netflix once planned to develop the novels into a film but passed.
The Kane Chronicles will stream exclusively on Disney+
