Earlier this week, Warner Bros., alongside Legendary Pictures, released the first teaser trailer for Dune: Part Three. The trailer concluded by revealing that director Denis Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan. Vaughan is best known for writing comics such as Y: The Last Man and The Runaways. He also signed an overdeal with Legendary back in 2018 (via Variety). This is the first update on the screenplay, given that Villeneuve co-wrote the first two films alongside Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). Spaihts may not have been available for the third film, given that he was last attached to adapt Gears of War for Netflix. This is expected to be the final film in Villeneuve’s trilogy, even though there are still four other books in the original Frank Herbert saga.
Dune: Part Three hits theaters on December 18th
