Today, a report announced that actresses Emma Thompson and Elle Fanning are in talks to join the cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Thompson is in negotiations for the role of Drusilla, and Fanning is in talks as a young Effie Trinket. Elizabeth Banks played the role in the original Hunger Games films. Neither has officially signed on yet.
In this prequel, Effie will be a stylist for the tributes of District 12 but will genuinely care for their well-being in the games. The rest of the rumored cast includes Charlie Plummer as young Haymitch, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Kieran Culkin as young Caesar Flickerman, and Jesse Plemons as young Plutarch Heavensbee. Production begins this July in Germany under the direction of Francis Lawrence.
