Today, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 released a casting call for several new and old characters. The casting call again confirms Toph’s appearance in the upcoming second season, as a worldwide search began in June for the character. It will not be surprising if the actress is officially announced during Netflix’s Geeked Week 2024 next month, around September 16th, before production begins.

The report also confirms the first appearance of Lady Ursa (mother of Zuko & Azula), Long Feng, and The Earth King. It would be interesting if the show integrated Ursa’s backstory from the comics into the live-action adaption. In the comics, she was betrothed to another before being forced to marry Prince Ozai due to her direct lineage to Avatar Roku. Since Ozai wanted his heir to be as powerful, if not more, than the next Avatar, yet to be found at this point.

Several new characters are also revealed, including General Song, General Tran, and another character named Bone Saw. Both generals are probably part of the Council of Five in Ba Sing Se, which the Dai Li eventually overthrow. While Bone Saw is a complete unknown, it could be an Earth Kingdom fighter in the underground fight club where Toph is first introduced. Production begins October 7th back in Vancouver.
