Director Jordan Peele Met With Marvel Studios About Their ‘X-Men’ Reboot

Last week, a report teased that director Jordan Peele had met with Marvel Studios about an upcoming film. Several news sites came out to confirm the meeting but warned it was several months ago, and the meeting didn’t go anywhere. A report has once again confirmed the meeting and revealed that he met with Kevin Feige about their upcoming X-Men reboot. Usually, Peele would not meet with a blockbuster machine like Marvel Studios, considering his filmmaking is very niche and original. As with every film he has directed, he has also written original stories like Get Out, Us, and Nope with his own cinematic touch. So the thought of Peele working on a Marvel “production by committee” type film is extremely odd.

The flip side of the story is that Peele must be open to some tentpole film if he even meets with them. It should be noted that every one of his films also had underlining social commentary woven into the story. This would be perfect for the X-Men in a universe that accepts superheroes who are made like Captain America but despises Mutants who are born. The studio has recently tapped writer Michael Lesslie to pen the script (which will almost for sure be rewritten). So they could circle back around to Peele, though he may still want to take a crack at the script himself.

X-Men has no set release date
