Over the past week, news began to develop on the upcoming Green Lantern TV Series being developed by the new DC Studios. This series will be completely new and separate from the long-in-development anthology series for HBO Max. Seth Grahme-Smith developed the original series under the title Green Lantern Corps, which featured a multitude of Lanterns throughout different points in history. These Lanterns included 1940s Alan Scott, 1980s Guy Gardner & Bree Jarta, and modern-day Jessica Cruz & Simon Baz. However, that version of the Green Lantern series was canceled due to the creation of the new DC Studios under James Gunn. Both shows are separate from the Green Lantern Corps movie, originally developed for the Zack Snyder universe as a reboot of the 2011 Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds.

DC Studios head James Gunn has revealed that writers Chris Mundy (Ozark) and Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) will collaborate with comic book writer Tom King on this new series, Lanterns. The Wrap has confirmed that Mundy will serve as showrunner. This series is expected to follow only Hal Jordan and John Stewart on a new adventure. Meanwhile, fan-favorite Guy Gardner will appear in 2025’s Superman, played by Nathan Fillion. It’s unknown how this series will tie into the new DC Universe under Gunn and producer Peter Safran.
