Over the years, fans have fancast actor Giancarlo Esposito for every major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most of the roles have been for villains because the actor is constantly typecast in villain roles following his time on Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian. However, some fans have also seen the actor as a hero, notably a new take on Charles Xavier of the X-Men (via IGN). Another character was voicing Silver Surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, much like Laurence Fishburne did in the 2007 film. The actor has hyped up these fantastic at most Comic Cons, telling Kevin Fiege to give him a call for any role. Then, last month, the actor revealed at CCXP in Mexico City that he has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new mystery role (via The Wrap). The actor didn’t let slip which movie he would be appearing in but later announced that he would appear in a Disney+ series next.

A new report has revealed that the actor is set to make his MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World. Esposito’s mystery character was part of the extensive rewrites (and upcoming reshoots) that occurred after the WGA writer’s strike from writer Matthew Orton. While it’s still unknown who the actor actually plays, the report states he will again play a villain who is described as an “agent of chaos” in the film. He could possibly play the role of lead Weapon X scientist Dr. Abraham Cornelius, as Brave New World will introduce adamantium to the MCU. The character worked directly under Major William Striker in the comics. Though this suggestion is pure speculation.

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14th, 2025
