Today, a report revealed that actor Chris Hemsworth will star in the upcoming Transformers/G.I.Joe crossover movie by Paramount Pictures. Hemsworth is best known for his decade-long role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but will also voice Orion in this year’s Transformers One.
The potential crossover film was first teased in last year’s Transformers: Rise of Beasts in a post-credit scene that both Hasbro characters will eventually crossover in a future project. Unfortunately, the script was put on hold last summer due to the WGA writer’s strike. Rise of the Beasts and Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. was going to write and helm the crossover, but that is currently unknown. It’s also unknown who Hemsworth will play since this could be a new G.I.Joe team not associated with the Channing Tatum/Dwayne Johnson films of the early 2010s. However, the studio did find mild success with their rebooted origin film Snake Eyes starring Henry Golding.
