Last December, we at Knight Edge Media were first notified that the release date of the upcoming Avatar Aang animated movie by Paramount and Avatar Studios had been updated. YouTuber @AirSpeedPrime was the first to discover that the release date website The Numbers had the movie updated in November 2023. Today, Paramount Pictures announced that the film had been pushed back from October 10th. 2025 to January 20th, 2026. While not a massive release date change, it could be attributed to the layoffs the studio experienced last summer during the Hollywood strikes. Once again, this is just one of three films in various stages of development, and the long-rumored Earth Avatar series is also in development for Paramount+.
Almost five years after the creation of Avatar Studios and the first film’s release, many fans may feel left in the dark. However, with the studio working on multiple projects simultaneously, there will be less downtime between releasing each project. Eric Nam is set to voice Avatar Aang alongside Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph, and the return of Dante Basco as Firelord Zuko. Lauren Montgomery is set to direct the animated film, while Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino will produce each film under their new Avatar Studios production banner.
Avatar Aang animated movie is slated to hit theaters on January 20th, 2026
In other news…..looks like the animated #AvatarTheLastAirbender movie slated for 2025 is now undated/pushed back.
Which makes sense as I heard there was massive layoffs this past summer at Avatar Studios during the strikes pic.twitter.com/B2VkohFyNf
