Last month, Marvel Studios officially released actor Jonathan Majors from the studio as the multiversal villain, Kang the Conqueror, due to his guilty abuse verdict. The studio is already looking to completely rewrite Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to account for their main villain being let go. Some fans have suggested they simply recast the role and establish the new actor as a variant of the original Kang. The studio does seem to be leaning into this idea as they are still committed to their original plan with Kang.
Daniel Ritchman has revealed one of the actors the studio is looking at is Colman Domingo. The actor is best known for his recent roles in Candyman, Fear The Walking Dead, and The Color Purple. Fans have theorized he could play The Beyonder and make him an older version of Kang. While they are two different characters in the comics, it wouldn’t be out of Marvel’s power to create an amalgam character of both to set up Avengers: Secret Wars.
Several years ago, Domingo even revealed to Awards Watch he is down to play a villain for either DC or Marvel, “I think I’m ready now. I’d worked out, fit… I just want to be the villain. I don’t want to be the good guy. I actually want to do some really dirty, nasty work.” Again, the studio hasn’t selected an actor to take over just yet as Kang. Unfortunately, production on the next Avengers film may be pushed back as the studio still searches for a director to take over for Destin Daniel Cretton.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently slated to hit theaters May 1st, 2026
