In July, we learned that Atlanta writing duo Donald & Stephen Glover have been hired by Lucasfilm to pen the Lando Calrissian series. The project was originally announced during the 2020 Disney Investor Day with writer Justin Simien as a series on Disney+. Now, Stephen Glover has revealed to Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast that since they took over the project, it’s getting repurposed as a feature film.

“It’s not even a show…the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.”

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing WGA writer’s strike, writing on the film has been halted until the strike is concluded. Donald Glover is still expected to return and star in the title role. No director has been attached to the film.
