Back in early March, DanielRPK (via Avatar News) revealed on his Patreon that casting was already underway for Aang, Katara, and Sokka in the upcoming animated Avatar: Aang feature film:

Aang

“24, male, from a fictional community inspired by the monastic cultures of Asia. Adventurous, kind, with a youthful exuberance and energy, Aang wants to be everyone’s best friend. He prefers to resolve conflict without violence.”

Katara

“26, female, from a fictional community inspired by cultures of the First Nations of Canada, Indigenous American and Inuit people. Independent, passionate, and determined, Katara is a young woman with a huge heart who often puts the needs of others ahead of her own. She believes in the goodness and potential of others, even if they don’t believe in themselves.”

Sokka

“27, male, from a fictional community inspired by cultures of the First Nations of Canada, Indigenous American and Inuit people. Sokka is a charismatic and ambitious man with a wry sense of humor. He’s a natural leader and storyteller, and he’s always looking to help those around him. Courageous and resourceful, Sokka is not afraid to fight for what he believes in.”

Today, a new open casting call had gone out for an untitled animated feature film from Jenny Jue of Downtown Casting. The casting sounded as if it was based on the character Toph for the upcoming Avatar: Aang feature film by Avatar Studios:

We at Knight Edge Media revealed in early December that the previously announced film would be recasting all the main characters (Aang, Katara, Sokka & Toph) besides Dante Basco as Zuko. The newly created studio wanted to cast ethnically diverse voice actors in roles after the original cast was comprised of mostly white actors. These casting calls would confirm that they are indeed looking for new voice actors to take on these iconic roles originally voiced by Zach Tyler Eisen, Mae Whitman, Jack De Sena, and Michaela Jill Murphy (aka  Jessie Flower).

Avatar: Aang feature films will hit theaters on October 10th, 2025
