Today, PEOPLE Magazine announced that actor Tom Blyth had been cast as young Cornelius Snow in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film. Based on the book of the same name, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows Snow 64 years before the original books. Blyth is best known for his lead role on EPIX’s Billy the Kid TV Series.

“Tom’s performance will both fulfill and disrupt everything you think you know about Coriolanus Snow. He’s a tremendous talent who will show why Snow always lands on top.” – Producer Nina Jacobson

Lionsgate had announced at CinemaCon last month that production was ramping up (some sites thought the production was secretly underway). However, filming will take place between June and run through November. Director Francis Lawrence returns to helm the prequel.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes hits theaters Nov. 17, 2023
