Zawe Ashton Will Play The Main Antagonist in Marvel Studios ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Today, Deadline announced that actress Zawe Ashton has joined the cast of Marvel Studios Captain Marvel 2. She will play the film’s main antagonist. Some suggest she could play the character Moonstone. Moonstone replaced Carol Danvers in the Dark Avengers lineup. She also received her powers from the Kree like Carol.

Brie Larson will return as the title hero with Iman Vellani retuning as Ms. Marvel after appearing in her own Disney+ show. Teyonah Parris will also appear in the film as Monica Rambeau after debuting in the WandaVision Disney+ show. Candyman 2 director Nia DaCosta is set to direct the film with Kevin Feige producing. WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell also penned the script.
