Today, it was announced that Amazon Studios is moving forward with an original spin-off series based on The Boys. The Boys is currently streaming on the service and is the highest viewed original series for Amazon. The upcoming series will be based on college-age superheroes as they go to “Supes” only Vought College. The series is expected to be a hard-R just like its predecessor.
Set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International), the Untitled Boys Spinoff is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.
EP on The Boys Craig Rosenberg will board as showrunner and head writer. With The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke returning for the spin-off as a producer. Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver; and Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, also executive produce in association with Sony Pictures Television.
