‘Candyman 2’ Director Nia DaCosta Tapped To Helm ‘Captain Marvel 2’

Earlier this year the first trailer for the Candyman sequel dropped online met with great praise for its creepy tone like the original. Producer Jordan Peele praised director Nia DaCosta for taking the film to a new exciting place. Now today Deadline is reporting that Nia DaCosta has been tapped by Marvel Studios to helm Captain Marvel 2.

The original film which stars Brie Larson and Jude Law was originally directed by the duo Anne Bowden and Ryan Fleck. However, they opted not to return for the sequel. After meeting with several female directors Kevin Feige landed with DaCosta. Larson and Law are expected to return for the sequel.

Captain Marvel 2 hits theaters July 8th, 2022
