Today, a new report announced that Paramount Pictures has begun early development on a live-action movie based on Cyberpunk 2077. A 2020 rumor suggested Netflix wanted to make a live-action series, but it never moved forward; instead, the streaming service developed the animated series Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners. The live-action movie was first announced in 2023, when video game developer CD Projekt Red announced plans to develop the game as a theatrical movie alongside Annymous Content. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I.Joe) is attached to produce the movie for the studio. It’s unknown if Keanu Reeves will return as Johnny Silverhand.
