Lionsgate Confirms Ralph Fiennes as President Snow in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

Today, Lionsgate confirmed that actor Ralph Fiennes has joined the ensemble cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. He was first rumored in April to play the evil President Snow of the Capitol, a character previously played by Donald Sutherland in the original films. While Tom Blyth also played a much younger version in 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

Fiennes is best known for portraying many classic villains, such as Voldemort in Harry Potter and Hades in Clash of the Titans. He joins Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, McKenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt, and Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee. Production begins this July in Germany.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping hits theaters on November 20th, 2026
