Today, a report announced that the duo of Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson will helm the final Spider-Verse film Beyond the Spider-Verse. Persichetti helped co-direct Into the Spider-Verse, while Thompson came up with the visual style and co-directed Across the Spider-Verse. The duo said in a statement:
“We have had the immense privilege of being part of Miles’ journey from the very beginning, and directing the conclusion to his story is beyond exciting. The creativity and care poured into every minute of this project has been truly inspiring. We have crafted what we feel is a very satisfying ending, and we can’t wait for fans to experience it – we’re bringing everything we’ve got!”
The film will unlikely hit its rumored 2025 release date, with the directors only just announced. According to Business-Standard, Sony Pictures has delayed the project to sometime in 2026 to put as much time into the final installment as possible. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal will return to produce the film.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit sometime in 2026
To anyone confused: Bob and Justin are not the *new* directors, they have been the directors of BTSV the entire time — and doing a great job. They were just announced today.
