Today, a report has announced that, alongside HBO, Warner Brothers has begun casting the leading adult roles in the upcoming Harry Potter remake TV series. According to the report, Mark Rylance is being eyed for the lead role of Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts.
While the report mentions he hasn’t been offered the part, he is at the top of the list for the role if his schedule allows it. The role was originally played by Richard Harris and then taken over by Michael Gambon in the films. Rylance is best known for his role in Dunkirk as Mr. Dawson, the World War I vet who helped during the battle of Dunkirk. Open casting is still underway for Harry, Ron, and Hermione, as it began in September. Production is expected to start in April 2025 in the United Kingdom.
