Today, Netflix officially announced over 20 actors that have joined the cast of their upcoming live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Our friends over at Avatar News, and we at Knight Edge Media already revealed many of them earlier this year. The previously revealed cast includes Water Tribe members Amber Midthunder (Prey) as Princess Yue, A Martinez (Ambulance) as Master Pakku, Irene Bedard (Pocahontas) as Yagoda, Joel Oulette (Trickster) as Hahn, Nathaniel Arcand (FBI: Most Wanted) as Chief Arnook and Meegwun Fairbrother (Mohawk Girls) as Avatar Kuruk.
The previously revealed Earth Kingdom members include Arden Cho (Teen Wolf) as June, Utkarsh Ambudkar (Ghosts) as King Bumi, Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest) as The Mechanist, and James Sie returning as The Cabbage Merchant. And finally, the previously revealed Fire Nation members included Momona Tamada (Secret Headquarters) as Ty Lee, Thalia Tran (Raya and the Last Dragon) as Mai, Ruy Iskandar (Benders) as Lt Jee, Ryan Mah (Snowpericer) as Lt Dang, François Chau (The Expanse) as The Great Sage and C.S Lee (Dexter) as Avatar Roku.
The announcement also revealed several new cast members, including Lucian-River Chauhan (Encounter) as Teo and Hiro Kanagawa (The Man in the High Castle) as Fire Lord Sozin. As well as introducing George Takei (Star Trek), set to voice Koh the Facestealer and Randall Duk Kim (John Wick) set to voice Wan Shi Tong. We at Knight Edge Media have learned Fire Lord Sozin is expected to have a more significant role in the initial prologue of the series. At the same time, Wan Shi Tong will be included more in Commander Zhao’s (Ken Leung) backstory to The Library in search of a way to kill the spirits.
