Earlier today, Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon several new details about HBO Max’s upcoming Green Lantern TV Series. The series is expected to be TV-MA for the streaming platform which will also delve into many real-world issues throughout its run.

The show will have Alan Scott a closeted gay LA cop set in the 1940’s, they will move onto Guy Gardner & the newly created Lantern Bree Jarta half-alien half-black woman dealing with racism in the 1980s. And finally, ends with Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz set in Present Day. The show will run 10 episodes and showrun by Seth Grahame-Smith. The show is also being produced by Greg Berlanti of The CW. With production expected to start in April 2021. Casting for these leading roles is currently underway…

[GUY GARDNER]
To play white Male, 30s. A hulking mass of
masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of the 1980s hyper-patriotism that brought us Rambo and Hulk Hogan. And yet, Guy is somehow likable. He might act foolish, but he’s not dumb. And he loves his wife and young daughter with all of his hard-partying, fast driving, hot-headed heart. But like many alpha males, there’s a deep undercurrent of pain driving it all.

[BREE JARTA]
To play Black Female, 30s, Few Lanterns take their commitment to the Corps and its ideals more seriously than Bree. She’s half human, and it’s the half she’s worked hard to forget. The daughter of an alien mother and human father, she was raised on another planet in an enlightened, advanced society, outworking her peers and earning her Ring only to find herself partnered with Guy Gardner.
SERIES REGULAR.

[ALAN SCOTT]
To play white Male, 28 yo. From the outside, he’s the model of an early 1940s J. Edgar G-Man: Handsome, clean-shaven, well dressed – not a hair out of place. Alan has spent his life trying to exemplify truth, justice and the American Way. At 28, he’s already a household name in Los Angeles, portrayed as a hero in the press. But for all his honesty, there’s a giant lie hovering over Alan: He’s a gay man. A fact that, in his era, could cost him his job, or even his life.
SERIES REGULAR.

It would seem for now DC isn’t allowing fan-favorite Lanterns Hal Jordan or John Stewart to appear on the show. Assumingly it would be for the long-in-development movie featuring the two but that is unknown at this point.

Green Lantern will stream exclusively on HBO Max
