Today, a report announced that actress Scarlett Johansson has entered talks to join Matt Reeves The Batman 2. Her role is being kept under wraps, but she is expected to be Bruce Wayne’s (Robert Pattinson) new love interest. The report stated that Selina Kyle (played by Zoe Kravitz) is unlikely to appear in the film, but online rumors suggested it could be a minor role, if anything. Emma Stone was originally offered the role but passed (via The InSneider).
Several characters from Batman’s lore that Johanson could be up to play include reporter Vicki Vale, Andrea Beaumont, or Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy. However, it makes the most sense for an actual love interest like Vale. In other news, Oscar-winning cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt has boarded the film and takes over from Greig Fraser (via The Wrap). Production on the film begins in early 2026, back in Glasgow, Scotland, and Liverpool, England.
The Batman 2 will swing into theaters on October 1st, 2027
