Today, a report announced that director Justin Lin has been attached to develop a Helldivers live-action movie. Lin is best known for revamping the Fast & Furious franchise. He also directed Star Trek Beyond after JJ Abrams left to direct Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Screenwriter Gary Dauberman has penned the script after working on the horror films IT and Annabelle. The original PC game “centers on an elite unit of shock troopers, known as Helldivers, who must battle aliens known in simple terms as Bugs, Cyborgs, and Illuminate, threatening to destroy the fictional interplanetary and faux-democratic empire of Super Earth.” Sony Pictures is producing the film.
